Confirmation Preparation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
(a required element)
Reconciliation is the sacrament that offers us an opportunity to restore our relationship with God when we have damaged it through sin. Being involved in the preparation and celebration of this sacrament invites the candidate to reflect on the nature of compassion and forgiveness that God offers through this sacrament. The candidate is invited to involve themselves in the preparation for this sacrament in a variety of ways:
- Assist at or help create an Advent or a Lenten Communal Reconciliation Service
- Assist the catechists in the 2nd grade classrooms
- Assist at the Parent meetings for First Reconciliation Preparation
Assist at the celebration of First Reconciliation or at a parish communal reconciliation service in a variety of ways:
- Help at practice
- Acolyte
- Lector
- Greeter
- arrange other possibilities that are mutually agreeable
After their involvement in the sacramental experience the candidate is asked to reflect on it and record their reflection in any medium the candidate chooses, such as:
- Writing or journaling
- Music
- Poetry
- Art
This reflection is then shared at a group meeting with sponsors, other candidates, Fr. Jack and Peg.
