The Sacrament of Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament that ordains men to ministry in the Church through the priesthood. It is the culmination of many years of prayer, discernment, formation and education. The candidate who seeks to involve themselves in the sacrament of Holy Orders is asked to research the history of the sacrament and share this information with their sponsor and Fr. Jack. With this understanding of the history of the sacrament, the candidate is then asked to interview a priest about their ministry and priesthood. The candidate will attend an ordination, if possible, and reflect on the experience.

The candidate will record this reflection in the medium of their choice, such as:

Writing or journaling
Music
Poetry
Art

This reflection is then shared at a group meeting with sponsors, other candidates, Fr. Jack and Peg.

What will I be doing?

You will:

1) have an initial meeting with Father,
2) research the history of the sacrament of Holy Orders,
3) interview a priest about their ministry and priesthood,
4) attend an ordination liturgy,
5) spend some time reflecting on your experience,
6) ) record the process of your reflection through some medium comfortable to you,
7) attend a group reflection meeting with sponsor, other candidates, Fr. Jack and Peg to share your reflections.
