Confirmation Preparation
The Celebration of a Funeral Liturgy
(an additional, optional element)
The celebration of a funeral liturgy occurs when a parishioner has passed away and the family requests a funeral mass. The candidate would be involved in meeting with Fr. Jack and the family members as they plan for the celebration of the vigil service and the funeral liturgy. The candidate might involve themselves in the experience in a number of ways:
Assist at the funeral liturgy by
- Helping with preparations
- Acolyte
- Lector
- Greeter
- arrange other possibilities that are mutually agreeable
After their involvement in the sacramental experience the candidate is asked to reflect on it and record their reflection in any medium the candidate chooses, such as:
- Writing or journaling
- Music
- Poetry
- Art
This reflection is then shared at a group meeting with sponsors, other candidates, Fr. Jack and Peg.
