The Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation is one of the initiating sacraments of the church. The candidate who seeks confirmation is asked to research the history of the sacrament and share this information with their sponsor. With this understanding of the history of the sacrament, the candidate is then asked to reflect on their own desire to receive this sacrament and express that desire in any medium the candidate chooses, such as writing, music, poetry, or art. This reflection is then shared at a group meeting with sponsors, other candidates, Fr. Jack and Peg.

What will I be doing?

You will:

1) have an initial meeting with Father,
2) research the history of the sacrament of Confirmation,
3) meet with your sponsor and share what you have researched,
4) spend some time in personal reflection around what you have learned and discussed with your sponsor,
5) reflect on your own desire to receive the sacrament of Confirmation,
6) record the process of your reflection and your desire through some medium comfortable to you,
7) attend a group reflection meeting to share what you have reflected on
8) receive the sacrament in the spring of 2007.
