Confirmation Preparation
The Sacrament of Baptism
(a required element)
Baptism is the first initiating sacrament into the life of the church.
Being involved in the preparation and celebration of this sacrament,
the candidate is invited to make a connection with their own baptism.
They are invited to meet with Father and parents who bring their children for baptism.
They are invited to assist Father at the actual celebration of the child's baptism in a variety of ways.
As an example, they may:
- acolyte at the baptismal celebration
- write prayers for the child and family
- assist in making the white garment or candle that is presented by the parish
- arrange other possibilities that are mutually agreeable
After their involvement in the sacramental experience the candidate is asked to reflect on it and record their reflection in any medium the candidate chooses, such as:
- Writing or journaling
- Music
- Poetry
- Art
This reflection is then shared at a group meeting with sponsors, other candidates, Fr. Jack and Peg.
